Pamela Tulizo
Pamela worked with members of the Rebuild Women’s Hope (RWH) group for the 2020 exhibition. RWH is a non-profit coffee collective set up in 2013 by Marcelline Budza with the aim of economically empowering Congolese women. Pamela says she is very proud to be part of Women By Women because she can tell the stories of women and help break stereotypes.
Marcelline Budza is the founder of the Rebuild Women’s Hope (RWH) group. It has nearly 2,000 members who grow high-quality coffee on Idjwi Island and earn an independent income. Their coffee is sold around the world, including in the UK and US.
In 2017, Marcelline won the prestigious Robert Burns Humanitarian Award for founding the collective and transforming the lives of women in the DRC.
Marcelline hopes these images can show the world that Congolese women can stand up for themselves and contribute to the improvement of a better world for all despite the challenges they face.
