For her 2020 collection, Morena focused on women in the Guatemalan hip-hop scene who use their music to promote feminism and fight for social justice.

She says being involved in Women By Women was inspirational because women photographers in her country still experience many challenges.

Rebeca Lane is a trailblazing Guatemalan hip-hop artist who has used her music to advance the social, economic, cultural and political achievement of women. She is a survivor of domestic abuse and is passionate about addressing violence against women and girls in her music, particularly in her song Mujar Lunar (Lunar Woman).

Rebeca has also rapped about getting justice for the victims of Guatemala’s violent 36-year civil war and for having the right to love whoever you want, even in a deeply catholic society. She is an activist and voice of a generation for Guatemalans who are still dealing with violence and discrimination.

Rebeca uses her music to speak directly to women and girls in the hopes of empowering them as they continue to live in patriarchy. Before she got into hip-hop, Rebeca was an activist in social movements around Guatemala and has been calling out authorities for better treatment of women and minorities for years.
